Young Joon Kwak (they/them)

35

Using fragmented impressions cast from the bodies of different members of their queer and trans community in Los Angeles, Young Joon Kwak has created what they describe as a “collective rising body.” They paired the sculpture with Soft Revolt Jamz (Glittered), an atmospheric score in collaboration with musicians in their community that invites viewers to take the time to find themselves in the sparkling, mirrored surfaces of their sculpture Divine Dance of Soft Revolt.
