Andrea Fraser (she/her)

18

Andrea Fraser works conceptually to explore the social, financial, and psychological aspects of art. She conceived these sculptures of sleeping toddlers as “allegorical figures of art objects,” representing “the primary emotional needs for attention, value, and care that artworks often hold.” Modeled by hand out of a wax that never hardens, they are materially vulnerable and must remain encased in plexiglass.

Untitled (Object I–V) is shown here in a joint presentation with paintings by Fraser’s mother, Carmen de Monteflores.
