Artie Vierkant

In Artie Vierkant’s Exposure Adjustment on a Sunset, the sky remains brightly lit as the sun sets. This persistent, unnatural glow is shot through with the uncanniness of science fiction. The work seems to be less a response to the sunset itself than to the glut of sunsets flooding stock photography, Instagram, and the Internet, giving a sense that our contemporary image world has become so vast as to render nature itself obsolete.
