Trisha Baga

2

In Trisha Baga’s Flatlands, the artist explores the boundary between her own interior perception of the world and its appearance to others. A series of optically layered surfaces creates a sense of depth within the projected video using translucence, reflectiveness, and texture. Baga alters our own perception of space through deliberately retro means, asking us to wear paper 3D glasses and placing a disco ball between the projection and the screen so that its mirrored surfaces refract the projection onto the walls of a room. The work plays with the line between real and illusionistic space, enveloping us within both at the same time.
