Anton van Dalen (1938 – 2024) was a Dutch-American artist known for his paintings of the East Village of New York City. He was an assistant to the artist Saul Steinberg for 30 years.

Introduction

He was known for his engagement and documentation of the East Village in Manhattan from the 1960s until his death. He studied at the former Amsterdamse Grafische School, an institution specializing in graphic arts and printing, from which he graduated in 1954. He arrived in New York City in 1966.
