Verbal Description: Four Ways of Being 

Narrator: Four Ways of Being is a horizontal painting of four men from different generations, each standing in the center of their own colored panel looking forward with open body language seen from the thighs upward. Their similar skin tones are represented in grey scale.

From left to right there are four panels of solid colors serving as backgrounds for each subject: a cool deep pink, an earthy cool beige, a thick vibrant blue, and a warm muted orange. While each figure is positioned similarly, they are all distinct. 

In the pink panel, the subject has a slender, youthful face. Long blow-dried or flat ironed hair with delicate ends contrast on the lapel of a tan formal jacket with the first button closed and the second button left open. An orange flower bursts open on the lapel. The jacket frames a crisp white button down and falls at hip level over grassy emerald green pants. Long arms hang by the sides with fingers passively curled inward.

In the beige panel, the subject has a fuller, middle-aged face with a smooth bald head and a carefully groomed beard with a white patch in the center. A casual short-sleeved button down shirt is punctuated by a printed pattern of large green stylized flowers. A transparent or sheer pocket reveals a section of print underneath, showing that the fabric is thin. His arms fall open alongside bright white pants. 

In the blue panel, an older subject tilts his head slightly left, showing a faint smile under a bushy groomed mustache. A smooth brown hat with a dark ribbon around the circumference and a short brim casts a shadow over the face, leaving a gleam on the cheeks. One hand gently straightens a black tie with colorful butterflies over a formal long sleeved off-white button down. A black-brown belt with silver hardware is threaded through the loops of chino trousers where his shirt is neatly tucked in. His other hand is concealed in his pocket. 

In the orange panel, a young man sports a buzzcut and the early soft hairs of a mustache. 

He wears a sweater with a dusty taupe grid with color blocked architectural silhouettes in maroon, red, beige, green, and yellow. One of his arms falls by the side of chocolatey brown pants, and his thumb hooks into a pocket with the other four fingers resting on his thigh.
