Event Schedule

Weaving and Astrology with Sibyl Kempson and Omie Johnson
Floor 3, Susan and John Hess Family Theater
7–9:45 pm
As a prelude to her upcoming summer solstice performance, playwright, director, and performer Sibyl Kempson hosts a weaving workshop with astrologer Omie Johnson. The practice of weaving is a potent tool to reflect on the interaction between free will and fate, between personal choices and planetary cycles, between individual action and collective action. As participants work on both individual and group weaving projects, Kempson will provide guiding thoughts and Johnson will share insight into the astrological dynamics of the present moment. Kempson’s upcoming summer solstice performance is part her ongoing project at the Whitney, 12 Shouts to the Ten Forgotten Heavens.

Critical Looking Seminar: Borders and Belonging
Floor 3, Hearst Artspace

Works by Zoe Leonard as well as artists from the upcoming exhibition Pacha, Llaqta, Wasichay: Indigenous Space, Modern Architecture, New Art will serve as touchstones as we explore the complexities and contradictions of concepts such as “the nation” and “American.”
