When the Whitney opens the doors of its new building to the public in May 2015, the landscape of contemporary culture in New York will shift. The Museum's community of supporters is invited to take a vanguard place within this transformation. Downtown Member Saturday is your chance to hear first-hand about the Whitney’s curatorial vision and plans for the inaugural year, and to start exploring the Museum’s history and its historic neighborhood. 

11:30 am, 1 pm
Curatorial Keynote
Scott Rothkopf presents a preview of the new Whitney’s inaugural exhibitions.

1, 2, 3 pm
Spotlight Talk and Tour: Whitney Origins
Learn about the Whitney’s early history during this visit to the Museum’s original location.

2:30, 3:30 pm 
Spotlight Talk: Downtown Art and Artists
Explore the stories of artists living and working in the Whitney’s new neighborhood.

1–5 pm
Member Meet and Greet Center

Location: The Standard, High Line, Garden Rooms, 69 Little West 12th Street
Between events, stop by the meet and greet center for complimentary warm beverages, recommendations for noteworthy exhibitions and activities at neighborhood galleries and art spaces, and to learn more about the Museum and its new home. Museum staff will be available to answer questions and to share a closer look at the Whitney’s new building, using construction photography and building models.
