In this performance, the artist attempts to recount her personal observations as a form of Deaf American history. She offers a critique of its aesthetics and its ties with sign language, laws, technology, and deaf dogs.
Presented in both ASL and spoken English.
Christine Sun Kim uses the medium of sound in performance and drawing to investigate her relationship with spoken languages and her aural environment. Her work Too Much Future is currently on view at the Whitney.
A reception for the artist to follow the performance, 5-6:30 pm, in the Tom and Diane Tuft Trustee Room on the Eighth Floor.
Tickets are required ($10 adults; $8 members, students, and seniors). Members: please log in to reserve tickets.
