Christine Sun Kim: Five Finger Discount History

Mar 10, 2018

In this performance, the artist attempts to recount her personal observations as a form of Deaf American history. She offers a critique of its aesthetics and its ties with sign language, laws, technology, and deaf dogs.

Presented in both ASL and spoken English.

Christine Sun Kim uses the medium of sound in performance and drawing to investigate her relationship with spoken languages and her aural environment. Her work Too Much Future was featured as part of the ongoing series of public art installations located across the street from the Whitney Museum of American Art and the High Line.
