Introduction
Urban Great is a Nigerian Afrobeats duo, comprising twin brothers Emmanuel Ibeh (E) and Kingsley Ibeh (King), who excel as rappers, singers, songwriters, and performers. They are known for co-writing and producing the majority of their music, showcasing their artistic reinvention, musical versatility, and distinctive visual presentation.
Originating from Ikeduru in Imo State, the twins were born in Lagos State but were raised in Aba, Abia State. They embarked on their musical journey at an early age, recording their first two singles, “They Don’t Know Us” and “Oh Father!” After gaining admission into university, their passion for music drove them to continue performing at various campuses, events, and entertainment venues.
They also participated in the 2006 Comedy Night of a Thousand Laughs in Port Harcourt.
In 2008, they released a mixtape titled “New Day” under a group they formed called Skills Degree. By October 2010, they produced their first studio album, “It’s Writing,” which features tracks such as “You Need Somebody,” “Vex,” and “I Need You.” Despite receiving praise for its quality lyrics and composition, critics deemed the album underrated, possibly due to insufficient promotion.
In 2013, they released two EP tracks titled “What’s Street” featuring Slender G and “King is Back” (olori Oko) featuring Femi thyme.
The song enjoyed several months of airplay on Raypower FM Radio as part of their weekly playlists. However, due to undisclosed challenges, Urban Great took a hiatus from music.
In August 9, 2024, the duo twins made a triumphant return to the music scene with the release of their EP titled “Love.”
On December 22, 2024, another 2 hits tracks, You Say More & Omo Ibo (Igbo) Hope beyond failure EP, was released in all digital music streaming platforms and including in all radio FM stations.
