Narrator: Fred Lonidier had the idea for this work when he found an advertisement for customized T-shirts, produced by the GAF Corporation. GAF manufactured photographic film, but it was a large corporation that worked across many other sectors as well. Lonidier objected to many of its labor practices.

Fred Lonidier: So what I decided to do was to research this company and type up my research—obviously I have to crunch it down into sort of sound bytes—onto note cards, because that’s what you do when you’re a student. I’ve done lots of those—term papers! And I would make slides of those note cards, and I would send them in to have them print them on their t-shirts. So this is a way of getting them to do a critique, do an end run of their own public relations, and produce a critique.
