Sterling Ruby

Narrator: Have you ever made something in art class that turned out not as good as you wanted? Look at the bits and pieces inside each of the giant basins. Some of these materials were originally part of other ceramic sculptures, which blew up during the ceramic firing process or came out in a way Sterling Ruby didn’t like. He combined all of these mistakes into new works, which he then glazed and fired again and again. What do you think about that? Talk to your adult about a time you tried something that didn’t quite work but had an unexpected consequence.
