Happy Hopper Day
July 20, 2024

Come celebrate Edward Hopper’s birthday with us on July 20, 2024, close to what would have been Edward Hopper’s 142nd birthday on July 22.

We've teamed up with the Meatpacking Business Improvement District and the Edward Hopper House Museum and Study Center to plan quite the party. New Yorkers of all ages will enjoy events and activities at the Whitney Museum, photo ops in Gansevoort Plaza, and festivities at the Edward Hopper House Museum and Study Center.

At the Whitney

The Whitney Museum is located in the Meatpacking District near the neighborhood where Hopper lived and worked for much of his life. Hopper's career and work have been a touchstone for the Whitney since before the Museum was founded and the Museum is now home to over 3,000 artworks by Hopper, more than any other museum in the world.

Artmaking
Join us for Hopper-related artmaking in the Museum's Open Studio from 11 am–3 pm.

City Sites
As part of a past landmark exhibition, Edward Hopper's New York, we created a map of New York City locations that Hopper painted. Use the map to tour those locations.
