Refigured

2023

A skeletal figure faces a winged being; both hover surrounded by a blue glow.

Sound Description: Rachel Rossin, The Maw Of, 2022

artport is the Whitney Museum's portal to Internet art and an online gallery space for commissions of net art and new media art. Experience this work in artport.

On the main page of The Maw Of, the sounds of avant-garde chord progressions made by electronic musical synthesizers play slowly. At some points, there are percussion strikes on what sounds like a marimba or xylophone. The music pauses at different points for sounds of fingers clacking on keyboards or the chirping of crickets or the sound of rain.
