Taíno Today: Art and Culture in the Caribbean

On the occasion of the exhibition Pacha, Llaqta, Wasichay: Indigenous Space, Modern Architecture, New Art, this conversation explores the field of Taíno art and culture. Speakers include exhibiting artist Jorge Gonzalez and scholars Jorge Estevez and Jose Barreiro, co-curators of the exhibition Taíno: Native Heritage and Identity in the Caribbean at the Smithsonian’s Museum of the American Indian. The discussion is moderated by Marcela Guerrero, assistant curator.

Con la ocasión de la exposición Pacha, Llaqta, Wasichay: Espacio indígena, arquitectura moderna, arte nuevo, esta charla explora el campo del arte y la cultura del pueblo taíno. Entre los oradores se contará con el artista Jorge González y los académicos Jorge Estévez y José Barreiro, curadores de la exposición El pueblo taíno: patrimonio e identidad indígenas del Caribe (Taíno: Native Heritage and Identity in the Caribbean) en el Smithsonian Museum of American Indian. El debate será moderado por Marcela Guerrero, curadora asistente.
