You are invited to Open Studio From Home, free weekly online art classes with Whitney educators! Participants will experiment, create, and learn together with at-home art materials.
In this painting by Man Ray from 1938, a billiard table stretches toward the horizon. Rainbow-colored clouds float above it. This is a landscape of the mind, a product of the artist’s vivid imagination. He said: "I did not wish to paint anything realistic or even descriptive. There is always an idea behind each of my paintings. It's the idea that interests me, not the description."
Together, we will make our own mini books. Then we will fill them with surreal drawings from our imaginations!
