You are invited to Open Studio From Home, free weekly online art classes with Whitney Educators! Participants will experiment, create, and learn together with at-home art materials.
Claes Oldenburg recreates ordinary objects in unexpected ways, changing their size and what they are made of. He has transformed all kinds of everyday things, including home and office appliances, food, clothing, and musical instruments. The bread, bacon, lettuce, and tomato in this soft sculpture are made of vinyl stuffed with natural fibers, and the toothpick is made of wood.
Join us to learn more about Claes Oldenburg’s sculptures. Then, we will transform ordinary materials into our very own soft stuffed sculptures!
