ARTMAKING
Surreal Drawing Studio: Exquisite Corpse
Floor 3, Hearst Artspace
7:15–9:30 pm
Come to Artspace for a drawing experience that is social, spooky, and surprising! Artist and educator Jaqueline Cedar will lead a drop-in, open level workshop exploring the Surrealist drawing game Exquisite Corpse. In this collaborative technique, participants draw part of a figure, conceal their contribution, and then pass it to the next player.
TOURS AND TALKS
Seminar Discussion: Petrified Ghosts in the Whitney's Collection
Floor 3, Red Room
7:30, 8:15, 9 pm
Join teaching fellow Ayanna Dozier to explore collection icons as sites of haunting. The presence of a ghost—even as an idea—is a reminder that past lives or experiences are not lost to the progress and movement of the present. The seminar will explore works by Andy Warhol, Norman Lewis, Georgia O’Keeffe, and others, asking how we can think through time and memory in a nonlinear fashion.
Mini Tours: Pop works by Rosalyn Drexler, Marisol, and Andy Warhol
Floor 7
7:45, 8:15, 8:45, 9:15 pm
Led by teaching fellow Xin Wang.
Mini Tours: Rachel Harrison Life Hack
Floor 5
7:45, 8:15, 8:45, 9:15 pm
Led by teaching fellows Janine DeFeo and Grant Johnson.
