The Whitney is open late—just for members! Celebrate with fellow supporters and enjoy everything the Museum has to offer. In addition to gallery access, the evening includes Whitney teaching fellow-led exhibition talks, members-only dining and shopping, and more.

All members are invited to this event. The invitation is for two individuals per membership household. Members at the Dual level and above are welcome to arrive at 7 pm for priority admission. One-time-use member guest passes may be used. Not open to corporate and reciprocal members.

Samba Dancing with Casa Brazilia
Floor One
7:30, 8:30, and 9:30 pm  

Join drummers and dancers from Casa Brazilia for interactive performances. Experience the rhythm of samba, an important inspiration for Hélio Oiticia. His Parangolés, fabric sculptures to be worn while dancing, express his commitment to art that is collaborative and interactive. Performances will last approximately 25 minutes.

Drawing Studio: Exploring the Figure
Floor Three, Susan and John Hess Family Theater
7:15–9:45 pm

Artist and educator Mark Joshua Epstein will lead a drop-in, open-level figure drawing class in the third-floor theater. Gain firsthand experience with this foundational artistic practice and explore ideas of proportion, positive and negative space, and foreground and background as well as the expressive potential of line, texture, and gesture while sketching from live models. Draw for a few minutes—or longer! First come, first served.

Mark Joshua Epstein is a visual artist and independent curator based in New York. Recent solo exhibitions include Vane Gallery in Newcastle, England and Biquini Wax in Mexico City.

Critical Looking: Gendered Subjects
Floor Three, Artspace

Teaching fellow Aliza Shvarts will lead a participatory seminar on women artists in the Whitney’s collection who have used their practices to challenge relationships of subjecthood and objecthood in both art and politics. Members will be invited to discuss individual works by Louise Bourgeois, Elizabeth Catlett, the Guerrilla Girls, and others, as well as the larger issue of the underrepresentation of women artists in arts institutions.

Explore Oiticicia’s formative New York years. During the 1970s, he was stimulated by the art, music, poetry, and theater scenes, which greatly influenced his artistic practice.

Join this brief tour of works from the Whitney’s collection in the Of Eros and Dust section of the Where We Are.

Still hungry? Untitled, located on the ground floor, will be serving dinner all night—make a reservation here. Social Series drink tickets may not be used in Studio Cafe or Untitled.

Cash bars serving wine and beer are located on the ground floor and in the third-floor Theater. Last call for cash bars is 9:45 pm. Social Series drink tickets may be used at the cash bars.
