New York City Teens

New York City teens are invited to Making Us: Teen Night at the Whitney Museum! Join Youth Insights Leaders for art making, artist-led activities, dancing, and more!

Participate in an artmaking workshop with 2017 Whitney Biennial artist Ajay Kurian, customize your own screen-printed tote bag or poster, hang with friends, meet new people, and check out the 2017 Whitney Biennial.

Open Call for Digital Artwork
Many artists in the 2017 Whitney Biennial, including Rafa Esparza, John Riepenhoff, and Occupy Museums, have created space for other artists to share their work. Youth Insights Leaders invite teens to submit digital work (photographs, videos, music, or photos of paintings, drawings, sculptures, etc.) responding to the following prompt: Making Persona.

Create or submit artwork you have already made relating to ideas about identity, selfhood, and individuality. All work should be emailed to youthinsights@whitney.org before Friday May 12, 2017 and should include your name, school, and grade. Artwork will be projected during the event.

This event is free to attend, and no RSVP is required—bring a friend! Questions? Email youthinsights@whitney.org.
