Literary Icons: Robert Indiana and the American Dream

Fri, Oct 11, 2013
7 pm

Many of the literary themes in Robert Indiana’s work affirm his lifelong engagement with American writers such as Herman Melville, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, William Carlos Williams, and Walt Whitman. Join contemporary writers A.M. Homes and Lynne Tillman as they read from their own work and other canonical American literature, including some of Indiana’s favorite writings. On the occasion of Robert Indiana: Beyond LOVE, visitors will explore the past, present, and future of literary themes such as national identity, blurred boundaries between private and public, and the fallen American Dream.

This event is free with Museum admission, which is pay-what-you-wish on Fridays, 6–9 pm. There are no special tickets or reservations.
