Feelings are Facts: A Neuro-Cinema

This screening and conversation considers how the cyborg has become a new paradigm for thinking about hybridity, expanded constructions of identity, and the boundary between the virtual and the real. The program will begin with a 30-minute selection of videos that explore technology as an invisible power applying pressure to the body, and a potent location for its transformation through feelings, physical gestures, empathy, and emotional release. Following the screening, artists Lynn Hershman Leeson, Andrea Crespo, and Saya Woolfalk join Chrissie Iles, Anne and Joel Ehrenkranz Curator, for a discussion of the technological body, particularly as it has been a site for questions of identity and also for social critique.

Tickets are required ($12 adults, students, and seniors; free for members). Doors open thirty minutes before the program begins. Ticket holders are guaranteed admission until the start of the program, at which time any unclaimed seats will be released.
