Whitney Contemporaries Patrons

Whitney Contemporaries Patrons are invited on our annual bus trip—this year to Philadelphia! First, we’ll stop at the ICA Philadelphia to view Barbara Kasten: Stages. From the ICA: “Widely recognized for her photographs, since the 1970s Kasten has developed her expansive practice through the lens of many different disciplines, including sculpture, painting, theater, textile, and installation. Spanning her nearly five-decade engagement with abstraction, light, and architectonic form, this exhibition situates Kasten’s practice within current conversations around sculpture and photography.”  Kasten’s work is also included in the collection of the Whitney.

After lunch, we’ll head over to the Barnes Foundation to view The Order of Things, an installation with work by three Whitney permanent collection artists: Mark Dion, Judy Pfaff, and Fred Wilson. The three artists were commissioned by the Barnes to create installations in response to Dr. Albert Barnes’ philosophies on collecting. The group will also have time to explore the Barnes Foundation collection.

Open to Whitney Contemporaries Patrons. Become a member or upgrade your membership by calling (212) 570-7746.
