Join artist and educator Mark Joshua Epstein for an evening of drinks and hands-on artmaking inspired by the current exhibition Dreamlands: Immersive Cinema and Art, 1905–2016. We'll create multimedia collages in response to live music to explore synesthesia: a phenomenon in which an individual’s senses overlap; a synesthete might hear a color or smell a sound. The condition has long fascinated filmmakers, whose art combines visual and aural experiences.

Mark Joshua Epstein (b. 1979) is a visual artist based in New York. Recent exhibitions include solo presentations at Biquini Wax in Mexico City and Brian Morris Gallery, New York, and a recent two-person project with Will Hutnick at Demo Projects in Springfield, Illinois. Epstein has participated in numerous residency programs including the Millay Colony, the Macdowell Colony and the Saltonstall Foundation.

Contemporaries and Contemporaries Patron members are invited to this event: The invitation is for two individuals per membership household. Registration instructions will be provided by email. To RSVP, email contemporaries@whitney.org with your name and membership ID.
