Whitney Contemporaries are invited to a special talk with art historian and former Joan Tisch Teaching Fellow Paula Burleigh who will provide an overview of the historical developments in twentieth century and contemporary art as they relate to the upcoming five-part exhibition Open Plan. This experimental exhibition uses the Museum's dramatic fifth floor gallery as a single open exhibition gallery, unobstructed by interior walls. As the largest column-free museum gallery in New York, it measures 18,200 square feet. Open Plan builds on a history of Whitney exhibitions that have proposed new ways of thinking about institutional spaces, including projects by Trisha Brown, Robert Irwin, and Christian Marclay, among others. A wine and beer reception will be open in advance of and following Burleigh's talk.

Space is limited and open to Contemporaries members. Become a member, or upgrade your membership by calling (212) 570-3641.
