This edition of the semiannual Breakfast features an engaging conversation between Adam D. Weinberg, the Whitney’s Alice Pratt Brown Director, and David Breslin, DeMartini Family Curator and Director of the Collection.

David Breslin joined the Whitney in fall 2016. As director of the collection, he helps guide acquisition initiatives and organizes presentations of the Museum’s holdings that reflect and advance its central values. Most recently, he led the curatorial teams responsible for Where We Are: Selections from the Whitney’s Collection, 1900–1960 and An Incomplete History of Protest: Selections from the Whitney’s Collection, 1940–2017. While these two exhibitions differ in focus and organizing principles, both highlight lesser-known works from the Museum’s collection and emphasize social, political, cultural, and personal histories. These displays exemplify the Whitney’s noncanonical approach to American art and act as a frame and context for the year’s overarching program of exhibitions, performances, and educational activities.

Fellow and Sponsor members are invited to this event. The invitation is for two individuals per membership household. Registration instructions will be provided by email.
