For this edition of the semiannual Breakfast with the Director, permanent collection artist Liz Deschenes (b. 1966) will join Adam D. Weinberg, the Whitney’s Alice Pratt Brown Director, for an engaging conversation about her practice. Using a range of analogue techniques, Deschenes creates minimal, seemingly abstract photographs that investigate the histories of photography and film as well as architecture and exhibition display. Deschenes is represented in the Whitney’s holdings by eight works, five of which are entering the collection as part Thea Westreich Wagner and Ethan Wagner’s promised gift to the Museum. Two works by Deschenes are on view in Collected by Thea Westreich Wagner and Ethan Wagner, the current exhibition celebrating this gift.

Join us for a light breakfast at 8:30 am followed by the conversation at 9.
