Singular Visions

Join us for a free tour in American Sign Language of the Museum's new installation of Singular Visions, without voice interpretation. The tour begins at 7 pm, with a free pre-tour reception from 6–7 pm.

Singular Visions presents twelve postwar highlights from the Museum’s holdings, each in its own space, in order to create intimate and compelling encounters with a single work of art. Each piece was chosen to convey a distinct impression and a specific sense of its maker’s vision, whether somber or celebratory, figurative or abstract, quiet or bold. Through their variety of mediums, sizes, styles, and subjects, the works in Singular Visions encourage a range of powerful experiences and reveal how contemporary artists have stretched the very boundaries of what an artwork can be.

The following artists are currently included in Singular Visions: Eleanor Antin, Jonathan Borofsky, Paul Chan, Anne Collier, Willem de Kooning, Leon Golub, Robert Grosvenor, Eva Hesse, Matthew Day Jackson, Aleksandra Mir, Robert Morris, and Ree Morton.

Please note: we regret that complimentary tickets will no longer be available for ASL students. Museum staff/interpreters will not be able to sign student assignments.

Admission to tour and reception is free. Registration is required; RSVP to asl_tours@whitney.org. Please pick up your tickets at the check-in location in the Museum lobby.
