On December 9, over 150 high school students visited the Whitney to participate in Unravel, a Teen Night organized by Youth Insights Leaders. The event was inspired by the exhibition Dreamlands: Immersive Cinema and Art, 1905–2016. YI Leaders invited the British artist collective Unravel, to lead an art-making workshop that explored the tactile and experimental qualities of 16mm film.

Teens used stickers, markers, and pins to scribble, scratch, and make patterns on the film surface. To conclude the activity, Unravel collected all the film strips, edited them together, and projected them, turning all of the teens’ work into a creative, collaborative movie.
