From February 9-19, artists MPA, Amapola Prada, and Elizabeth Marcus-Sonenberg performed Orbit, living in the narrow space between the windowpanes of the Whitney’s Susan and John Hess Family Theater. Orbit, which is part of the exhibition MPA: Red in Viewexplored what it would be like to live in an enclosed self-sustaining environment where the first settlers on Mars might reside.

During Open Studio for Teens on February 10, teens responded to the prompt: Imagine that you are one of the first humans to live on Mars. How would you survive? What would you need to take with you? After viewing Orbit, they created collages in response to the prompt, using just one color.
