Is your resume updated? When you go for a job interview are you dressed appropriately? Do you know what you could do to make your interview go well? During these tough economic times, almost everyone is in search of job or a better job than the one they already have. This means there is a lot of competition out there. But you don’t have to worry, because I will give you some tips that will get you a job in no time!

YI recently had a behind the scenes look at human resources at the Whitney Museum. We were joined by Lisa Dowd, the Manager of Human Resources. Part of Lisa’s job is to help in finding a match for any open position at the Whitney. Here are some tips that Lisa gave YI:

  • Structure your resume.
  • Make sure that it is no longer than a page.
  • Be sure to list events or experiences chronologically, beginning with the most recent.

An important tip for interviews is to make sure you have appropriate body language. So no slouching over or putting your head down! After an interview, don’t forget to send a thank you letter. When you send a thank you letter it shows appreciation for the interviewer’s time.

I hope these tips will be useful for you on your next job interview! Special thanks to Lisa Dowd.
