Non-Dancers Wanted for Performance with Choreographer Michael Clark for Whitney Biennial 2012

The Whitney Museum and Michael Clark Company are seeking unpaid volunteers without formal dance training to work on a piece of “mass choreographic action” and perform as part of Michael Clark’s latest work for the 2012 Biennial. This project follows Clark’s hugely successful project at Tate Modern in London, which also involved a large group of untrained volunteers. (See Tate’s website for details.)

Volunteer Requirements

  • Age 18 or older
  • No previous formal dance training
  • Physically able to participate in movement/dance for 2-3 hours a day
  • Available for all following performance and rehearsal times, with flexibility to attend rehearsals on other days/times as needed: (NOTE: Times are provisional and subject to change.)

How to Apply

  • Send your CV, phone number, a short (up to 300 words) text about yourself to Kristen_Stevens@whitney.org.
  • Deadline: 5 pm on Tuesday, March 1, 2012.
  • Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we are unable to contact applicants who have not been selected.

Please Note

Participation involves a very extensive time commitment. Please DO NOT APPLY if you cannot commit to all the dates referenced below.
