Included in the 2004 Biennial exhibition, Barnaby Furnas’s paintings tackle American history, violent imagery, gesture, and lush color as they more effortlessly between abstraction and figuration. He is joined in this gallery talk by Whitney associate curator Dana Miller, who coordinated the exhibition.
