Ana Mendieta
Mar 25, 2024
In her earth-body sculptures, Ana Mendieta used her body as a canvas, covering herself with flowers, dirt, rocks, and grass, and then subjecting herself to the elements. Emotional, alluring, and at times disturbing, Mendieta's work remains deeply impactful decades after her passing. You may recognize Mendieta's black and white photograph Untitled (Esculturas Rupestres) [Rupestrian Sculptures] (1981) that was recently on view in our exhibition Inheritance.
