Multiple Edition: Corin Hewitt

A hybrid of performance, installation, and photography, Corin Hewitt’s practice explores the nature of still life through an investigation and manipulation of materials. From October 3, 2008 through January 4, 2009, he occupied the Whitney’s Anne & Joel Ehrenkranz Lobby Gallery where he cooked, composted, cultivated plants, and cast objects, making photographs through the run of the exhibition. For his Multiple Edition program, he is joined by artist Siebren Versteeg for an interactive demonstration of how he transforms the concrete into the abstract.

This season, Multiple Edition takes a cue from blog culture and considers the theme of oversharing—what information do we give away; how do we share our thoughts, process, or materials; what would constitute too much for an artist?
