This exhibition from the Whitney’s collection features works from the 1960s to today and is organized by themes. Some sections highlight shared material and conceptual links, such as sculptures made from local items, ecofeminist land art, and the heritage of documentary photography. Others focus on locations like contemporary New York's chaotic cityscape and 1970s Los Angeles's avant-garde film culture. Additionally, some pieces envision new realms where humans, animals, and nature coexist. The artworks discuss the environmental impact of industrialization, geopolitical divisions, and alternative spaces, emphasizing our interactions with and influence on our surroundings.
