Whitney Descriptions: Touch Tour and Art Making with Emilie Louise Gossiaux

The drawing shows a pale blue background made of pencil strokes. Scattered across the entire surface are many small, yellow, five-pointed stars, irregularly spaced, with a single small blue moon near the upper left. On the left side of the composition, a nude figure with short brown hair and eyes closed floats upright as if suspended in midair, facing right. On the right side, a dog figure floats upright, facing left, with eyes closed. The two figures are connected by a long, pale umbilical cord.

Floor 5, Kaufman Gallery

Join us for a touch tour and blind friendly art making experience with Whitney Biennial 2026 artist, Emilie Louise Gossiaux

As a visual artist who is also blind, Gossiaux brings their inner worlds into the physical world through drawings, ceramics, and sculptural installations, creating works based on dreams, memories, and their sense of touch. The event begins with the touch tour at 11am on the 5th floor. The tour will include a talk with the artist and collaborative visual descriptions of their artwork; Gossiaux will also provide touch objects for deeper engagement with their work. At 12:00pm, we will transition to the 3rd Floor Hearst Artspace for the art making with the artist.

For all accommodations, please email accessfeedback@whitney.org or call (646) 666-5574 with two weeks’ notice.

This event is free, but registration is required.
