Teen Art-Making Workshop: If the Sculpture Fits

Teens are invited to the Museum for a hands-on workshop inspired by Paul Thek: Diver, A Retrospective. Thek is an artist whose career included everything from painting to sculpture to installation. Focusing on his 1968 exhibition entitled A Procession in Honor of Aesthetic Progress: Objects to Theoretically Wear, Carry, Pull, or Wave, teens are invited to make their own functional clothing. From hats that double as sculptures to shirts that morph into tables, participants will experiment with different objects, exploring all the ways they can make it work. Teens are encouraged to bring their own items of clothing and found objects for alteration. Extra items of clothing and all art-making materials will be provided. 

This program is free of charge and open to all high school students, but registration is required. When you register, you will receive a confirmation email with additional details about this event.

This event will be held in the Whitney Annex at 33 East 74th Street, between Madison and Park Avenues.
