Soundwalk on the High Line

Undercurrents: Experimental Ecosystems in Recent Art, the Whitney Independent Study Program’s 2010 exhibition, addresses issues of responsibility within the idea of ethical cohabitation-how to live together and how to be in the shared environment. Soundwalk on the High Line is one in a series of events organized as a part of the Undercurrents exhibition.
 
This soundwalk is organized and led by the New York Society for Acoustic Ecology (NYSAE) members: Sha Sha Feng, Andrea Williams, Todd Shalom, Jamie Davis, Andrea Polli, and invites participants to explore acoustic layers of the High Line.  The soundwalk will begin at The Kitchen Gallery with a presentation of Sound Seeker, an ongoing online project developed by NYSAE members Andrea Polli and Sha Sha Feng, which maps the sound specificities of multiple locations throughout the five boroughs.

Please note that Undercurrents does not take place at the Museum. The Kitchen is the primary site of the exhibition; additional sites include the High Line, the Little Red Lighthouse and the North River Waste Treatment Plant. Please consult individual calendar listings for details.
