All Ages Artmaking: Skyline Sketches

Installation view of Kelly Akashi's Monument (Altadena) (2026) at the Whitney Biennial 2026. A translucent glass sculpture resembling a stepped chimney or architectural tower stands on the Whitney Museum's outdoor terrace. Made of stacked glass blocks, the structure rises from a broad base into a tall vertical form. A winding path of glass pavers extends from the foreground toward the sculpture, suggesting a walkway or stream. The work is set against a backdrop of low-rise buildings and the Manhattan skyline beneath a pale blue sky.
