In Cy Dear (2018), filmmaker Andrea Bettinetti weaves together footage of the artist Cy Twombly (1928–2011) in his home and studio with recollections from individuals who knew him. Through interviews with Nicola Del Roscio, president of the Cy Twombly Foundation; the artist’s son Alessandro Twombly; art dealer Larry Gagosian; artists Sally Mann and Dorothea Rockburne; and architect Renzo Piano, among others, the film offers a compelling and sensitive portrait of the artist. Cy Dear will be introduced by Carol Mancusi-Ungaro, the Whitney’s Melva Bucksbaum Associate Director for Conservation and Research and a longtime acquaintance of the artist.

Cy Dear is produced by Michele Bongiorno for Good Day Films.

Patron, Circle, Fellow, and Sponsor members are invited to this event. The invitation is for two individuals per membership household.
