Pride Month Concerts with the Queer Urban Orchestra

Pride Month Concerts with the Queer Urban Orchestra

The Queer Urban Orchestra performs in a church-like concert hall filled with seated audience members. At the center, a conductor leads the ensemble while a vocalist in a bright pink outfit stands near the front of the stage. Musicians playing strings, brass, percussion, and piano are arranged across the space beneath tall white columns and a projected screen reading “Pride Gala Double… Magick.”

Open to all ages

June 14, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm

Visitors of all ages are invited to celebrate Pride Month at the Whitney Museum with a day of music and community. The Whitney welcomes ensembles from the Queer Urban Orchestra (QUO) for a series of family-friendly performances.

Inspired by works on view in the 2026 Biennial, QUO musicians will present two concerts in the theater, followed by a Q and A and an opportunity to take a closer look at the instruments. QUO musicians will also bring pop-up performances to the museum’s terraces throughout the day.

The Queer Urban Orchestra (QUO) is New York City’s premier LGBTQ+ volunteer orchestra, founded in 2009 to celebrate artistic expression and advance equality through music. Bringing together over 100 musicians and allies, QUO fosters a welcoming and inclusive space for performers of all backgrounds.

Through performances of classical and contemporary repertoire, the orchestra highlights LGBTQ+ composers and perspectives while engaging diverse audiences across the New York City area. Committed to artistic excellence and community impact, QUO seeks to entertain, educate, and inspire, promoting understanding, acceptance, and respect through the power of music.
