Richard Pousette-Dart: A Centennial Celebration

This evening symposium and reception celebrates the 100th birthday of Richard Pousette-Dart (1916–1992), a draftsman, sculptor and painter who was a founding member of the New York School of painting. The speakers, who will address Pousette-Dart’s art, teaching and life, are Jennifer Powell, Senior Curator Programme and Collection, Kettle's Yard, Cambridge; Barbara Rose, art historian and critic; Patti Trimble, poet and former studio assistant; Adam Weinberg, Alice Pratt Brown Director of the Whitney Museum of American Art; and Christopher Wool, artist and former student.
 
The evening will commence with the debut screening of the short film, The Healing Circles, which chronicles the recent conservation and reinstallation of Pousette-Dart's triptych, Presence, Healing Circles, commissioned in 1973 for the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.

This program is organized in collaboration with the Richard Pousette-Dart Foundation.

Tickets are required ($10 adults; $8 members, students and seniors). All ticketed attendees will be invited to a reception following the symposium. Please note: This event has reached ticketing capacity.
