A family is creating art together during Free Second Sunday at the Whitney Museum. An adult with curly hair and a striped sweater is helping a young child with curly hair work on an art project. They are seated at a table filled with colorful supplies, including markers, paper, and scissors. A sign in the foreground reads, "Arte para todas las edades," highlighting that the activity is designed for all ages.

How can you use words and images to express who you are? In this artmaking program designed by artist educator Jeannette Rodriguez-Pineda, create a mixed-media visual poem inspired by themes from the Edges of Ailey exhibition and Alvin Ailey’s own words. Participants will begin by crafting a short poem, then transform it into a visual artwork using drawing and collage materials!
