You are invited to Open Studio From Home, free weekly online art classes with Whitney Educators! Participants will experiment, create, and learn together with at-home art materials.
Each of the four life-size wooden female figures in Women and Dog is a self-portrait of the artist Marisol. The central head even includes a black-and-white photograph of her, and the multiple faces on the two adjacent figures were cast in plaster directly from the artist’s face. The small girl represents Marisol as a child.
Join us to learn more about the art and life of Marisol. Then, create a six-sided self-portrait of your own!
