The Whitney Biennial is a constellation of the most relevant art and ideas of our time. Teens are invited to Open Studio for Teens, a free art-making program on select Fridays to explore artists and themes found in the 2022 Biennial. This spring, we will work with contemporary artists to create and learn new techniques with art projects inspired by the artists in the Whitney Biennial.

In this special Open Studio workshop, New York City teens are invited to a Stoop Workshop with A Gathering of Tribes. In this interactive workshop, teens will be encouraged to bring in a work in progress or write a piece inspired by an artwork in the 2022 Biennial. Then, in the spirit of a writer’s community, each teen will receive and provide feedback to the collective group.

Rather than our usual drop-in studio format, this will be structured as a complete interactive workshop from 4–6 pm with A Gathering of Tribes.
