Nikima Jagudajev: Louisiana
"Remember when we drove across the country and posted up at Yellowstone? It was your birthday so we made a fire, roasted marshmallows and opened a bottle of champagne. Louisiana is a choreography that could perhaps be described as a sociality, a sort of gathering of companions. Like a traveling fair or the extended fam. It is, or was, mid June, but there was somehow snow outside the tent in the morning. We went for a walk without any particular destination. The snow didn’t last but the walk seemed eternal and along the way we came across geysers, acid ponds, sulfur caldrons, and a lot of water buffalo. One of them really sniffed us out and it was a little freaky. The extended fam, my sisters, will arrive, you know set up camp, inhabit space. Guests are invited, like really invited to take part, we might even over do it a little bit. When the lightning storm hit in the evening, we were by the lake and hung out under the fir trees. What is proposed is an infiltration rather then a composition that contests how and what is determined, allowing for the possibility of something else to show up; an intimacy of great proportion perhaps. Yeah, anyway, just come over. Immediate fam includes Alexandra Tveit, Laurel Atwell, Tamara Alegra, Talya Epstein, Jordan Balaber, Jordan Morley and omg the extended fam is endless: Phoebe Berglund, Darrin George, Bryan Sanders, Faheem Khan, Ama Levine, Rafay Rashid, Drue Schwarz, Constanza Armes Cruz, Asad Raza, Lester St. Louis, Marie Ursin, Mor Mendel, Adriano Vicente, Salma Abdul Salam, Mårten Spångberg, Jessica Hauser, etc.” —Nikima Jagudajev
