The mid-career survey Julie Mehretu brings together more than seventy paintings and works on paper dating from 1996 to the present, reflecting the breadth of the artist’s multilayered practice. Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 1970 and based in New York City, Julie Mehretu has created new forms drawing on the histories of art and human civilization and playing with scale and technique. Filling the Whitney’s entire fifth floor gallery, the exhibition will take advantage of the expansive space to offer dramatic vistas of Mehretu’s often panoramic paintings.

Thursday through Monday, March 18–22
10:30 am–6 pm

Before you head to the Museum, be sure to book free member tickets in advance and review our up-to-date visitor policies. After entering the Museum, head to the fifth floor and present your ticket to enter the exhibition.
