Artmaking: Dynamic Dance Sculptures
Draw inspiration from Edges of Ailey, and experiment with balance and form to create a dynamic dancer at this drop-in workshop with Teaching Artist Kristin Roeder. Express movement through your own wire sculpture by shaping, twisting, and combining lines in 3D space.

Alvin Ailey & Me: A Letter Writing Project
This activation honors the profound and deeply personal impact Ailey has had on people’s lives. We invite you to share how Ailey’s story has influenced your own with a heartfelt message, statement, or drawing dedicated to him.

Mini Workshop: Broadway Dance with Ailey Extension
Join Ailey teaching artist, former Rockette, and cast member from the original Broadway production of Hairspray, Judine Somerville for a mini class exploring the fundamentals of Broadway dance. Designed for all skill levels, these sessions will give you an opportunity to learn musical theater choreography and get a taste of Alvin Ailey’s love for Broadway and theater performance.

Immerse yourself in the genre-spanning mixes of Bronx native and founder of Uptown Vinyl Supreme, a DJ collective paying homage to the analog roots of music, party, and dance culture, DJ Sunny Cheeba is an artist and activist deeply invested in her community.
